The artwork on this card depicts the Holy Family - the Infant Jesus, cradled in the arms of his Blessed Mother Mary with St. Joseph his foster father looking on in adoration. Increased devotion to the Holy Family began in the 17th century, leading to a feast day added to the General Roman Calendar in 1921, to celebrate them as a role model for families.
